Hi! I’m Dr. Mae.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY28763) in San Diego and owner at growgood psychology, with over 15 years in the psychology world.
I help people who are trying really hard to push through their limiting self-beliefs and anxious thoughts- but can’t because their past experiences are still showing up in their day to day lives in the form of worry, control and fear.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (AF-EMDR), Humanistic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other modalities to support young adults and adults in individual therapy. My expertise is in women’s support, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, addiction, and other trauma related issues such as perfectionism, codependency & attachment.
I am an LGBTQI Ally (and have training & experience working within this community), Inclusivity and Equality Based Clinician (and person), Trauma Informed - but above all, human, just like you. I believe social justice & social issues belong in the therapy space. We cannot deny the conscious & subconscious impact that systems like capitalism, the patriarchy, racism, sexism, ablism & more are having on us. I want you to realize that there is nothing wrong with you- but there is a lot wrong with the systems we are trying to live in.
As a passionate advocate for social justice, I believe in the power of understanding the intricate interplay between psychology, systemic structures, and the mind-body connection. My journey has been one of continuous exploration, seeking to bridge these domains in pursuit of holistic healing and societal transformation.
I am deeply attuned to the complexities of human behavior and the underlying factors that shape individual and collective experiences. I am committed to unraveling the layers of systemic oppression that perpetuate inequality and marginalization, recognizing that true progress requires addressing not only individual mindsets but also the broader societal frameworks that uphold injustice.
In all my endeavors, whether in therapeutic settings, academia, or community social justice work, I am guided by a commitment to fostering empathy, understanding, and social change. I believe that by honoring the complexity of human experience and embracing a holistic perspective, we can create a more just and equitable world for all.
I’m ready to get my hands dirty with you- uprooting, replanting, and cultivating your personal growth so you can live the best version of yourself in this ever changing world.
